2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vs 2020 Ford Edge near Louisville, KY

Now is the perfect time to buy yourself a great midsize SUV, the problem becomes, which one should you buy? We are here to help you answer that question by comparing two of the top competitors in the midsize SUV market. These vehicles include the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the 2020 Ford Edge. The 2020 Grand Cherokee doesn’t have any major changes this model year, which we don’t mind considering how brilliant it has been the past few years. You’ll still find a plush interior, great engine options, and impressive off-roading capabilities. On the other side of things, the 2020 Edge now has dual-zone automatic climate control for all trims, although it has now ditched the CD player. Are you interested in finding out which vehicle you should be driving home? Keep reading and we’ll let you know!

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

Nothing says more about the 2020 Grand Cherokee than the four engines that are offered. This just goes to show the dedication to power and efficiency that Jeep has for this model. The first engine in the lineup is a 3.6-liter V6, which can output 260 lb-ft of torque and 295 hp. Both 2WD and 4WD are available. Another available engine is a 5.7-liter V8, which can get you around 390 lb-ft of torque and 360 hp. Finally, once you start getting to the performance-focused engines, you’ll his the SRT’s 6.4-liter V8, which gets you 470 lb-ft of torque and 475 hp. The final engine in the lineup comes with the Trackhawk, and is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which can deliver 707 horsepower! No matter the engine you choose, you’ll find an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2020 Ford Edge Power & Handling

Only two available engines come with the 2020 Edge. This is already a huge disadvantage when you look at the four engines offered with the Grand Cherokee. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which can output 275 pound-feet of torque, and up to 250 horsepower. The final engine offered with the Edge is a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, which outputs 380 pound-feet of torque, and up to 335 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available and standard with the second engine. Both engines get an eight-speed automatic transmission, but that isn’t enough to compete with the Grand Cherokee.

2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

Along with the four engines, the Grand Cherokee also comes in 7 unique trim levels that you are sure to love. Standard features, all found with the Laredo trim, include Apple CarPlay, rear parking sensors, a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, Android Auto, and a seven-inch touchscreen. More features are added when you jump to the Limited trim, which throws in heated front and rear seats, power-adjustable front seats, remote start, an 8.4-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, and a power liftgate. Finally, a performance trim like the SRT includes an adaptive sport-tuned suspension, a sporty body kit, selectable performance modes, sport-tuned steering and brakes, and summer performance tires.

2020 Ford Edge Features & Design

Unlike the Grand Cherokee, the Ford Edge comes with just four available trim levels. This lack of availability means that you won’t be able to as fully customize the Edge to your needs as you can with the Grand Cherokee. Standard features with the SE trim include a six-speaker sound system, 18-inch wheels, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a rearview camera, a Sync 3 infotainment system, dual USB port, and an eight-inch touchscreen display. More features are added with the SEL model, which includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and even simulated upholstery. The second-to-highest trim is Titanium, which throws in ambient cabin lighting, noise-reducing front windows, front sport seats, and leather upholstery.
